January 9th was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Vine Street School staff and students wanted to thank the Bangor Police Department for all they do for our school and the community. School Resource Officer Ivy frequently visits the school to help with safety issues. Students are used to seeing her, especially during drills and at arrival and dismissal times. On January 9th, the school lobby was redecorated for the day from Bangor Red to law enforcement blue to honor the men and women in uniform who keep us safe. Officer Ivy brought two Bangor Police Officers with her to accept gifts the students had made. The officers received cards and posters from students and staff. Second grade students colored pictures of one of their favorite characters–the Duck of Justice. They also wrote constructed responses about how the Bangor Police Department helps them. Thank you to all the officers of the Bangor Police Department for all you do.
