
Lynn Silk
Mrs. Silk has been a principal for 17 years, with 5 years at the Bangor School Department. The 2016-2017 school year will be her fourth year at the Vine Street School. Prior to becoming a principal, Mrs. Silk had diverse experiences as she followed her husband on his military career. She taught adult education at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Fort Richardson, Alaska. After life with the army, Mrs. Silk and her husband moved to Calais, Maine where she taught grades 5-8 for twelve years.
Mrs. Silk was born in Bangor with her first home on Charles Street. She grew up and attended schools in Orono. Mrs. Silk attended the University of Maine in Orono where she earned a bachelors degree in elementary education and a graduate degree in educational leadership. Mrs. Silk has gone on to become a Reading Recovery trained teacher and is currently working on becoming a math specialist.
Mrs. Silk currently lives in Orono with her husband who is an investigator for the State of Maine and her dog, a German Shorthaired named Koda. Mrs. Silk has three grown sons, a daughter-in-law, a grandson, a granddaughter, a chocolate lab granddog and a new black lab grandpuppy. When Mrs. Silk is not at school, she enjoys reading, boating, swimming, quilting and painting with water colors.
