Dear Bangor School Department Families: 

As we approach November, we want to ensure that all families in our community are aware of the food assistance resources available to them. With recent changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the upcoming holiday season, we understand that some families may need additional support. Below is a list of local food assistance programs that can provide help: 

Penobscot County Food Assistance Resources

Bangor Area Homeless Shelter - 

Location: 263 Main Street, Bangor, ME 04401 

Food Pantry Hours: Tuesday & Thursday, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM  

Soup Kitchen Hours: Daily, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Salvation Army Food Pantry 

Location: 65 South Park St., Bangor, ME  

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Monday - Friday, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM (by appointment)

Preble St. Hope House  

Location: 179 Indiana Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401

Ecumenical Food Cupboard 

Location: 28 High Street, Bangor, ME  

Hours: Tuesday & Thursday, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

First United Methodist Church Community Meal

Hours: Thursdays, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
